You cannot be mine
Anymore than sun or wind
Rain or stars can.
Still fevered hearts and
Feral minds dare covet.
Were there such power
As to enable the slightest
Absurd sliver of possibility
It would be for naught.
For I am a Dark creature.
You, scarred hero of wars
Against my kind
Blind me with your radiance
Despite your preference
For sombre attire.
Forever you draw me
In concentric circles prowling
Protesting all the while.
You may be no beauty
But you have ignited
The passions of a Beast.

A loved one surprised me the other day… Goodness. David Maddux, a composer and arranger for more than thirty years, had come across my website and been inspired by my writings and imagery. He sent me the musical piece, entitled Snapeheart, in this entry… I am very touched and humbled by his beautiful gift, and wanted to share it with all of you.
My dear Logospigrim,
How fortunate you are to have inspired so many including this young David Maddux. I tried to listen as I was brewing in my private lab but it was impossible. I was quite riveted by this music. It is terribly emotional and paints such strong images that I wish not to admit to them. I believe you know of what I imply.
Please send my most humble acknowledgement to Mr. Maddux. We can only hope that he will grace the world with more of his talent.
Ever yours,
Severus Snape
